Plating removal can be necessary for several reasons. Zinc plating is a common coating on metal hardware such as screws and nuts. Due its resistance to oxidation, it is primarily used to provide an effective protective barrier for certain materials. However, if this type of plating is incompatible with other types of hardware, it must be removed.
