Plating Removal

Plating removal can be necessary for several reasons. Zinc plating is a common coating on metal hardware such as screws and nuts. Due its resistance to oxidation, it is primarily used to provide an effective protective barrier for certain materials. However, if this type of plating is incompatible with other types of hardware, it must be removed.

At Stat Processing Inc., we have the ability to strip zinc plating from steel parts and re-plate them with either bright nickel or electroless nickel plating. Before stripping the metal parts, they are thoroughly cleaned prior to the immersion process, and the solution is agitated with compressed air. We highly recommend having a professional service strip your metals due to the hazards associated with the acid stripping.
